Laptop help needed!!

Thought i'd ask the expert for a little bit of help so here goes!!

i have a Dell Inspiron 6000 which has the memory of 256mb - needless to say that over the years i've clogged up my laptop with pics etc etc and now its starting to run very slowly in all aspects so i need to know if its worth upgrading the RAM on this one (i've read that you cant mix and match memory with this model, ie adding 512 to my 256 wont work, they need to be the same? and a 256 isnt available to buy anymore) or just to splash out on a new laptop with higher memory

i've done the disk clean up, defragging etc etc but it all seems to still run very hit and miss on the speed front so thats why i'm now considering a change! any help will be very greatfully appreciated!

well considering how cheap some laptops are now some under £300, with a high memory it would probably be worth investing in a new one to be honest.. for example my laptop is running on 2gb (most come with 1, 2 or 3 gb nowadays) which is 8 x more than the 256mb...

Have you also run virus checks and spyware scans to make sure its not that causing the slowness??

yep i have norton running and Aol spyware checking every so often so they are keeping all that stuff under control! my laptop has actually been behaving itself over the last few days but i still think my best option is to look into a new laptop so i could be back asking for advice on which is the best to buy haha!!! Might stick with Dell though as i've never had problems using them in the past but if you could recommend anything else worth having then i will listen!!

obviously it also depends if you want a webcam installed, or perhaps bluetooth installed, or 17" widescreen or not, etc etc

But these specifications above are good to base a laptop on, 2 or 3 gb memory, 160 gb harddrive is very big if you dont particularly need it for anything, I use a 320 gb harddrive but always doing loads on the laptop...
