Aquarius

Mars is in your sign from February 4 on, and this means your solar chart's not in a mood to compromise on anything important to you. In this way, you'll be right in tune with the times, because no one else in the world is likely to be in the mood to compromise during the first half of February either. That's because your co-rulers, Saturn and Uranus, will be glaring at each other from across the skies and neither one will want to give an inch til round about Valentine's Day. After that, they'll start backing into their respective corners to devise new strategies for the next confrontation scheduled later in the year.

For you, the global planetary disinclination toward compromise will probably be felt in your financial life, as neither of these planetary combatants has been making money matters easy for you for a good long time now. Thank goodness so many other planets are on your side these days. In addition to Mars, the sun's in your sign from January 19 to February 18; Mercury's in your sign from Valentine's Day on; while Jupiter, Neptune, and Chiron have settled in for long stays.

You also have a positive solar eclipse in your sign on January 26 whose effects may have been felt as long ago as late December or whose surprising and exciting helpful vibes may kick in during February. The lunar eclipse on February 9, on the other hand, may bring an end to an association. So if you can just get through that pesky first part of the month, things seem to be looking up.

As far as your personal year ahead goes; for the most part, there's really no need to make unpleasant concessions any more. Jupiter should have your back for the next 12 months, and that's good news. Jupiter is the planet of principles, and when he's in your sign he generally expects you to live up to yours. If you can do that, he'll usually take care of your pretty well.

ARIES
This year, the normally very assertive sign of Aries gets a positive boost from the sign of Aquarius. This encourages the Ram to be less aggressive and perhaps less dogmatic in approach than is normally required for Aries success. One symbol of this shift is the solar eclipse in Aquarius that occurred on January 26, an eclipse that gives you a fresh start in being able to sell what you need to sell (whether on your own behalf or on behalf of others) in a gentle and not overly assertive way. A lunar eclipse in Leo on February 9 backs up this theme as well by suggesting that for best results any overbearing approaches to handling children, lovers, or creative projects needs to end.

In fact, a cooperative attitude in how you relate to society dominates not just this month but the entire year. To wit: the sun in Aquarius from January 19 to February 18 highlights any work you do in a group that tends toward a common purpose or that provides a common benefit. Cooperation at work or in business is also highlighted by Mercury in Aquarius and Capricorn this month. And as if that wasn't enough, cooperative Venus enters your sign on February 3 and stays there for the rest of the month.

With Mars in Aquarius as well as Jupiter, Neptune, and Chiron I could on and on about this group and teamwork-related vibe until you get sick of hearing about it. So I'll just content myself by saying that it can show up in your life in all kinds of minor ways, such as buying more food from farmers' co-ops, getting involved in your housing association or joining a credit union instead of doing your business at some impersonal corporate bank.

TAURUS
Take some time for yourself around the lunar eclipse on February 9 if you can, Taurus. It's likely to be the only self-time you'll get all month. The rest of the month is all about your career and your public face. The skies have decided it's time for you to step out on the stage of your life, and they don't care whether you feel very ready or incredibly nervous.

Professional opportunities may have opened up as early as late December or may develop as late as the end of February, but whenever they choose to appear be sure to jump on them. No excuses. During 2009, you are intended to be embarking on a whole new chapter of achievement, and the time to begin pursuing your dreams begins while the sun and Mars are in Aquarius (your career sign) this month.

Not only that, if you were born at the very beginning of your sign, you've especially got the power this year thanks to a favorable angle between Pluto and your sun. Use the first half of the month to tweak your plans if necessary and then go for it.

GEMINI
Your ruler Mercury starts the month moving through your solar 8th house of the past. Coming to terms with the past is one of the themes of the Gemini chart in 2009, although it doesn't dominate. Coming to terms with the past is actually just a precursor to a main theme of the year, which is optimistic planning for the future. Part of the optimism comes because Pluto has moved out of Sagittarius, where it was putting pressure on your relationships.

Most of the optimism, though, comes from the cosmic emphasis on the compatible sign of Aquarius, which is supportive of your aims. The fly in the ointment is continuing family issues. From the 1st through the 11th of February, there is tremendous tension cosmically due to an opposition between Saturn and Uranus. Saturn, the planet of issues, is stuck in the sector that governs your family life.

Uranus keeps trying to force you to resolve these issues so you can move forward in your career or public life. Fortunately, if you can make some headway this month, the issues are scheduled to be resolved by the year, setting you up for a wonderful year of success in 2010.

CANCER
Don't count on a lot of personal time in February, Cancer. This month kicks off a trend of career energy that lasts literally into June. After that, eclipses in your own sign will start occurring, and you'll have plenty of time to work on yourself and on building the life you desire. In the meantime, though, the energy is all about getting your career and public life in order.

With Venus in your career sector from February 3 on, the current key to success is building relationships. If you have the opportunity to do a little schmoozing or deploy some charm on the higher-ups, take advantage of it. There is nothing wrong with being strategic in your thinking about this either. The idea is not to push yourself aggressively forward, for there's actually a lot of energy in a hidden area of your chart. This favors working with and through other people to meet your objectives. It is possible also that you began a new relationship recently or joined a group, and that this involvement could benefit your career if you nurture it.

LEO
Most of the planets in your solar chart in February are in the quadrant that governs relationships and involvements with others. There is so much energy directed toward others that your involvements may be so strong that you have little time for yourself. The exception to this might be around the 9th of February when a lunar eclipse in your own sign may bring a health matter to your attention that requires you to spend a little time on yourself. Other than that, the position of Mars in the sign opposite yours indicates that relationships (or one relationship in particular) may involve a lot of hard work.

For some of you, your job will require a lot of hard work, too, especially during the first half of the month, when Mercury is in your solar job sector. Leos born on the first few days of the sign also have Pluto in Capricorn spurring them on to harder work than normal as far as job-related matters go in 2009. Leos who need surgery should also consider postponing the operation past the time of the opposition between Uranus in the house that governs surgery and healing and Saturn in their money house. The opposition is in play during the first half of the month and eases off around the 12th of February.

It's not all bad news when it comes to relationship and other matters, though. The new moon on January 26 was a solar eclipse that may signal a fresh start in a relationship or group association, and your ruler the sun is sending positive vibes to your relationship sector from January 19 to February 18.

VIRGO
Virgos born at the beginning of the sign can take advantage of a tremendous emphasis on personal and creative self-expression as Pluto trines their natal suns. All other Virgos can take advantage of a lesser version of this energy as Mercury transits Capricorn until Valentine's Day. Throughout the month, Virgos can take advantage of the presence of Jupiter in Aquarius in their solar sector of daily work to express their ideas on the job. In fact, it might be a good time to make sure that you express your good ideas, for there is a lot of supportive energy at work from other planets in Aquarius this month (the sun, Mercury, and Mars, for example).

You may not be quite so clear and articulate in expressing your thoughts later in the year (especially around May) as Jupiter and Chiron will conjoin Neptune in your job house. Neptune is notorious for un-clarifying things (not one of Virgo's favorite sensations), and it may be difficult to make yourself understood this spring and summer. Talk (or write) now, or prepare for confusion later. Still, you are intended to have a satisfying year on the job and health-wise, and you'll probably be even more satisfied when Saturn leaves your sign at the end of the year!

This month Saturn is picking another fight with Uranus in the sign opposite yours, but you've been through this drill before (especially last November), and you'll go through it again. Just hang on through Valentine's Day, and then the two combatants will start backing off from each other.

I should also mention that there is an element of the unknown this month. Part of the unknown quantity comes from a lunar eclipse in Leo on February 9 that touches your solar house of the unknowable. The other unknown quantity comes from the potential effects of the solar eclipse in Aquarius on January 26. This could indicate anything from a new job or job changes to health improvements to nothing at all, and the range of action for this eclipse stretches from late December to the end of this month. So if you end up being (hopefully) pleasantly surprised by something you never expected, you can remember that I told you so!

LIBRA
You + others = happiness. That's the basic equation for February, and yours is one of the signs best positioned to have a happy Valentine's Day. There is so much loving and romantic energy in your chart, it is simply hard to contain it all. Your ruler Venus is loving it up in your house of committed relationships, and almost every other planet is partying in your house of love affairs and romance.

Almost. Unfortunately, Saturn is still picking a fight with Uranus through the 11th of the month. It seems as though Saturn doesn't much care about you or anyone else; he just seems intent on being grumpy and spreading gloomy news. If you wake up in February and outside forces somehow seem intent on making your job situation tense, adversarial, and anxiety-provoking--blame Saturn and Uranus.

Around the 9th of the month, you may also sever a friendship or relinquish a goal. Bottom line: If you can get through the first 10 or 12 days of the month, things look pretty darn good.

SCORPIO
Your solar chart is just really not in the mood to care about anything but you in February, Scorpio. It's all hunkered down, warm and cozy at the bottom of your chart, comfy and content as a bug in a rug or a human underneath the electric blanket on a chilly winter night. Your chart sees no reason to poke its head out the door to worry about the rest of the world. Alas, it must, at least a little bit.

From the 1st through the 11th or 12th, Saturn and Uranus are going to be having another fight in the sky. Naturally, they'll want to drag you into it. There are so many ways they could do this. Uranus could be insisting to you that you are a creative person whose talents need expressing, while Saturn may be insisting that you need a job that pays the bills--and Saturn doesn't think it's realistic to figure that the bills are going to be paid by creative rather than practical activities. Lovers and children could be a delight, but friends could be an interrupting burden. Or vice versa.

Furthermore, your chart is trying to shed a piece of your career identity, like a snake itching to get rid of a confining skin, and it aims to complete that task by early next month. You may be a bit surprised by how quickly this happens. Don't let any of this bother you too much, though, Scorpio, for by the time Valentine's Day rolls around you should be able to scoot under those warm and cozy covers again and do...whatever you like.

SAGITTARIUS
Your assignment in February, should you choose to accept it, is to meet as many new people as you can. The networking and friendly sign of Aquarius has flooded your solar third house of daily contacts and casual acquaintances with more planets than I have time to name. It is just chock full of energy, brimming with opportunity. You could meet dreamy romantic people, idealistic future friends, or inspiring new-agey types.

You could meet new neighbors or extended relatives you never knew you had. You could meet jolly simpatico instant attraction people right on your wavelength. You could meet debating partners, workout buddies, or sexy guys with expensive ski equipment to share. You could meet intellectual types you could talk books with or charismatic types who seem like future world leaders.

Just meet some people, some way, some how. If you absolutely positively cannot meet anyone new, then at least get together with a bunch of the people you already know. Your chart is just desperate to socialize its way through the winter months, so give it a hand if you can.

For the moment, it's much more about you than it is about other people. This is especially true if you were born during the first few days of your sign, for Pluto conjoins your sun this year. Even if Pluto is not sitting atop your sun, you are still near the beginning of a process of personal transformation over the next decade or so. You still have time to think through your goals while Mercury is in your sign until Valentine's Day.

After that, it's off to the races, as the vehicle of your personal transformation, your finances, revs along in high gear. There's so much energy in your chart around money and values this month, it's almost pitiful. Abundance abounds, and rarely does it abound in such a bouncy, optimistic, borderline insane way as it does now. I don't know whether you'll see actual buckaroonies sprout in your bank account right away, but you certainly have cosmic permission to obsess on the possibility they will. That is, as long as you take action toward that goal.

The one financial blip on the screen may occur around February 9 when a lunar eclipse in Leo (sign of joint assets) may bring an end to a financial matter. Although heck, you've got so much good vibes, maybe it will bring a happy ending, like finally paying off your car or something!

Do you know what the phrase 'personality integration' means? Me neither. Let's hope your chart does, however, because it sure is putting an emphasis on it this month. For one thing, the skies have stuffed 6 planets into your personality-integrating solar 12th house.

This house is like the tailor's house. This is where the planets stitch together the clothes you will wear when you present yourself to others. In the 12th house, you are naked and you can see what you really look like. By the time the planets leave the 12th house, you are dressed for success, with artful styling designed to minimize and conceal your flaws while highlighting your assets.

Next year represents your big job interview, the one you need to dress for success for. So your task right now is to get yourself in front of the mirror, while you've got all those tailors ready to help you, and find out what you really look like without anything on. If something needs to be healed before you feel brave enough to step into your own, make plans to get it healed. If you need to emphasize your strong points more, figure out what they are and make plans to exploit them. If you have flaws to minimize, conceal or work around, now's the time to identify them. You get the picture.

If you need feedback from others to take to your alone time with the mirror, Saturn in your opposite will probably provide it for you during the first half of the month. He's picking at and criticizing Uranus in your own sign until around the 11th or 12th.
